Online Show Cattle Advertising - Does it Work?

Today show cattle advertising online can be very frustrating and expensive. In the last few years we have seen a number of websites that have dedicated themselves to advertising your existing website. The concept is simple. You pay to have your site listed on their site. This method gives the buyers a single place to look for related cattle websites. We are starting to see a problem with the use of these sites with the rise in search engine popularity. The only benefit you will receive from listing your site on the popular site repositories is simply a back link that will help with SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

So, does that mean that advertising online is not being affective? The answer is no... It simply means that the online cattle community needs to change its mentality. Instead of looking for a "yellow pages" approach (where you list your site in a repository) we need to focus our advertising attention into more of a community approach. Where a community might incorporate a repository of related websites it is also a respected online resource dedicated to the overall good of the industry. This community needs to incorporate many types of communication designed for the education of the industry. This kind of community could incorporate a show forum (designed for a two way communication between steer jocks), a show blog (designed for a one way communication from a trusted cattle expert), and possibly a cattle classifieds section (designed to allow equipment and cattle to be evenly distributed between the needed parties.).

The cattle industry as a whole seems to move slowly when it comes to online technology changes, but it seems that this is the next step when it comes to effectively advertising show cattle online.
